Project background
The project aims to tackle key challenges faced by international students in the Australian workforce including language barriers, undervaluation of qualifications, visa restrictions, and a tough job market. Immediate benefits include better-informed employment decisions, reducing vulnerability to exploitation, and increased access to support services. Long-term goals involve enhancing job market participation and reduced rates of exploitation to improve student well-being and community integration.
This project is supported by Study Melbourne.
Objective
The project provides a unique service through 1-on-1 consultations that combine employment services, screening for exploitation, and promoting awareness of workplace rights.

Purpose
The purpose of establishing a project committee and reference group is to provide feedback throughout the “Right Start” project, from planning to evaluation.
